Bodil Manz is a Danish artist, best known for her construction of paper-thin porcelain vessels.
Bodil Manz began her study of ceramics at the School of Arts and Craft in Copenhagen in the early 1960s, going on to set up her own studio in 1967. She continues to live and work there today.
Bodil Manz's distinctive works in very fine porcelain are globally recognised and celebrated. Her slip-cast cylindrical forms have extremely thin walls and are usually decorated with bold linear designs. The thinness of the walls often allows the light to bleed through, merging the surface design with the interior and exterior space of the vessel.
Bodil Manz's works are held in numerous public collections including the Museum of Modern Ceramic Art, Gifu, Japan, The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK and the Los Angeles County Museum, USA.
