Clare Ransom studied Contemporary Crafts at Farnham College and currently works from her studio in Epsom.
She punches her works over nylon formers to create natural flowing shapes inspired by water, unfurling leaves, and branches.
Her works are held in various collections including the Goldsmiths Company, New College Oxford and the Ashmolean.
'The natural world is the inspiration for my making: flowing water, branching stems, a crevice in a rock, an unfurling leaf. Working mainly in silver, I crease, stretch and fold the metal into tactile, organic vessels using hammers and punches over nylon formers. The process allows the metal to escape from the constraints of the flat sheet, and take on a more fluid form.'
